Horse Riding Lessons Alberta

horse lessons alberta

As a coach with the Certified Horsemanship Association (CHA) I strive to give my students not only lessons in horsemanship but also the tools necessary for each student to help their own horse progress in it’s training. Riding a horse is not just about point and go or just riding but a constant opportunity for the horse to learn through the rider as well and for the rider to learn and grow through the horse.

Each lesson runs about an hour long with the opportunity to continue on practicing after the lesson depending on scheduling.

As students progress they can become certified riders in the CHA program and receive credentials that can go towards schooling events as well as becoming
a certified coach in the future.

I use good trustworthy lesson horses in my program, some of which I have personally raised and trained for my lesson program and others that are my trusted kids horses used for trail rides.

Each horse is suited to help the student grow depending on where the student’s skill level lies, either challenging them or helping them along in tough situations.

Too many times I hear stories from people that they have purchased a green broke horse meaning not very experienced or they have bought a young horse for their child to grow up with and learn with. This however is not necessarily a good idea, take for example you put two people in a car one of which has no driving experience and the other has driven a car for one week what do you think the out come will be?

alberta horse training First of all their progression in their skills will only go as far as the one individuals experience of driving for one week, second should they encounter a dangerous situation neither of them will know how to safely navigate themselves away from the danger.

The same idea goes with horses, if there is an inexperienced rider on an experienced horse the chances of an incident is less likely.

A horse can teach a rider and build their confidence as well as a rider who has the skill set can teach the horse and build their confidence.

Students are able to use the arena and property to practice through out the week at a discounted price and are able to use a lesson horse depending on availability.
